In this article I’ll walk you through on how to search to buy a home in Spain.
For the purpose of this article I’ll be using the platform Idelista, which is a very popular site among home buyers and sellers
In the home page of Idelista and you will find at the top the search engine and all you need to do is to search for the city you are interested in.
In this example we will stick with the city of Malaga. After clicking search, in the next page you will find that there are over 4000 search results and covers all the areas of Malaga.
On the left you will see a list with a number of results for each area and on the right the map of those different areas.
Click on either side to select the area you want to explore. Let’s select Cruz de Humidladero…
In the next page, you will find that this area is broken down further into different neighborhoods. In this example we will also select “Cruz de Humidladero” which is close to Maria Zambrano train station.

As you can see there are 113 search results for this neighborhood in the area Cruz de Humidladero of Malaga
On the left side you’ll find options to help you narrow your search results using different filter search selections.
You could also select other search filters such as number of bedrooms, bathrooms and many more
So for example if your price budget is anything under 180,000 or 170,000, you would just type it and then you would notice that the search results have been reduced from over 100 to now 40…
You could also use the map view (6), in that view if you zoom in more the prices will be displayed and if you zoom in less it will simply show pins.
Also there is an option for you to draw your prefered area (7)…
Safe your search
Let’s say you select the first one, once you select it you’ll find all the details of this property including description and the basic features.
Sometimes they would have a video giving you a walkthrough but mostly off often youll find photos of the flat.
When it comes to contact with the advertiser, sometimes youll find a phone number where once you click on it you can contact the agency or the owner.
If there is no number included you will be able to write a message (you will need to enter your details: your email, phone number and your inquiry…)
Safe your search
Idealista allows you to save your save results and your customized settings. For example: maximum budget is 170,000 euros and filtering down to 3 rooms.
You can save as many search results as you like with the appropriate customized filter settings.
You will be able to find and make changes to the saved searches in “Your Searches” page and receive notifications by email whenever there are new properties price reductions or new photos that are updated on the site.
